    Friday, 5th July-Norton-in-Hales Olympics

    8 July 2024 (by nortoninhales)

We enjoyed a fantastic morning at the very first Norton-in-Hales Olympics. Not only did the sun shine, but our four teams (Bulgaria, Spain, Ireland and Poland) performed their activities heroically.

The morning saw amazing javelin throwing, expert hurdling brilliant long jumping and lots of very soggy sleeves due to the ever-popular water bucket challenge!

One of the highlights of the event was guest of honour, former Olympian and 2x European Gold medallist, James Dasaolu. James led a wonderfully inspiring assembly, showing his medals, talking about his career (including what it was like racing against Usain Bolt) and his acheivements. After that, James then joined us for Sports Day, joining in the with the activities, offering lots of encouragement before participating in the sprint races with the children too!

At the end of the a super morning of sporting action, Spain were declared the winners with 887 points, pipping second place by just five points! Well done to everyone for taking part so brilliantly and thank you to everyone who came along to cheer on our children.
